Chapter 1

Krishat's POV

I stepped out of the closet after getting ready for office and heard my phone ringing. Picking it up, I glanced at the caller ID. Of course—it was none other than my best friend, Yashwant Tiwari.

I answered the call.

“Hello…” I heard his voice as soon as the call connected.

“Hello,” I replied.

“What took you so long to pick up my call?” he asked, clearly frustrated.

“I was in the closet, getting ready for the office when you called,” I explained.

“What? Office? You do realize I’m getting married in two days, right? And instead of being here, you’re going to the office?” he snapped.

“Exactly. In two days, not today. I’ll come then.”

“But today is my haldi, Krish! You have to attend all the functions starting from today. And I don’t want to hear any excuses. Just be here within an hour or else…”

“Or else?” I raised an eyebrow, even though he couldn’t see it.

“Or else I’ll call uncle and tell him that his son isn’t coming to his best friend’s haldi. You know what’ll happen then…”

“You bastard! Why are you dragging my father into this?” I groaned.

“Because he’s the only one you listen to,” he said smugly.

“Okay, fine. I’ll come,” I gave in.

“Good. Be here in an hour. Bye!” he said and cut the call.

Oh God… now I have to be part of all these wedding functions.

Sighing, I went back to the closet to get ready for my blackmailer best friend’s haldi.

---

After getting dressed, I went downstairs and informed my family about Yash’s haldi and that I’d be going there.

About half an hour later, I reached his place—and was immediately welcomed by the chaotic energy of wedding preparations.

I spotted my other best friend, Samar, and started walking toward him when I suddenly noticed a girl running towards the entrance.

I saw her ring fall when she was running .

I quickly bent down and picked up the ring that had slipped from her hand. She hurried over and stopped in front of me.

She looked straight at me and said, “The ring, please?”

But I… I was frozen.

I was lost in her beauty, she looked exactly like the girl from my dreams.

The only thought running through my mind was She’s the one.

She waved her hand in front of my face, pulling me out of my trance.

“Yes?” I said, regaining my composure.

“The ring?” she asked again, a hint of amusement in her voice.

God… even her voice is something I could listen to for a lifetime.

“What ring?” I asked dumbly, still dazed.

“That one,” she said, pointing to the ring in my hand.

“Oh—sorry,” I said quickly and handed it to her.

And then… I saw her slip it onto her ring finger.

My heart sank.

She’s… engaged?

But she’s my dream girl.

My chain of thoughts broke when someone called out, “Shivika!”

“Coming!” she replied, turning toward the voice.

So her name is Shivika… A beautiful name for someone so stunning.

But what am I even thinking? She’s engaged.

“Thank you,” she said with a soft smile before walking away.

And I was left standing there… lost in my thoughts of her.
